Beatriz Castillo, Latinitas

This month’s Staff Spotlight is Beatriz Castillo! Beatriz is senior program manager at Latinitas, where she uses technology and media to deliver culturally relevant STEAM education to girls and young women.

She has been inspired to work with young people since her own childhood. She believes in the power of mentorship and provides her students with the support she values in her own life.

Beatriz recalls one student of many years who wrote a heartfelt letter to the Latinitas crew. She described how Latinitas helped her grow beyond shyness through positive, emphatic support, inspiring her to take up space and pursue her dreams. That’s her goal at Latinitas: to give her students inspiration and the means to grow.

Her message to other OST professionals is to surround themselves with community, seek and give support, and help raise students and each other up.
