Development Manager

Organization: Andy Roddick Foundation

Location: Austin, TX Hybrid

Reports To: Chief Development Officer (CDO)

Overview

The Andy Roddick Foundation seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Development Manager. In this role, you will lead and manage our fundraising efforts, donor relations, and development activities. You will work closely with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and other department heads, fostering a collaborative environment to drive the Foundation's mission and achieve revenue goals through strategic planning, donor stewardship, and event management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the CDO and CEO to align fundraising messaging, campaigns, and donor-facing materials with organizational branding and goals.

  • Support the Leadership Council and Opportunity Matters Circle with meeting coordination, communications, and follow-up on engagement priorities.

2. Communication

  • Lead the development of donor and marketing emails, including audience segmentation strategy 

  • Create social media for development-related content, ARF program spotlights, event promotion, and campaign updates, in coordination with the CDO.

3. Donor Acknowledgment

  • Provide high-quality service to donors by addressing inquiries and sending tax receipts and acknowledgment letters.

4. Volunteer & Event Management

  • Manage live auction fulfillment, including planning experiences, reserving hotels and flights, and acting as auction winners' primary point of contact.

  • Plan and host quarterly fundraising and volunteer events to amplify ARF's presence and support from highly valued supporters, corporations, and volunteers.

  • Lead volunteer events and opportunities that connect community members and corporate partners directly with ARF's mission.

  • Manage event management platforms.

  • Represent ARF at community events

5. Fundraising & Engagement

  • Serve as a lead in researching, writing, and submitting grants to support the Foundation's mission and revenue goals. Grant writing is a priority function of this role; prior grant writing experience is preferred.

  • Lead the management of the annual giving program, including crucial fundraising events such as Giving Tuesday, End of Year Appeals, and Amplify Austin.

  • Manage the Leadership Council and Opportunity Matters Circle, focusing on membership renewals and engagement.

  • Support the Major Gifts Campaign with key strategies and activities.

  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with local businesses for community give-back opportunities, cause marketing, and in-kind support.

  • Assist with development and monitoring of the annual fundraising budget in partnership with the CDO.

6. Donor Recognition and Stewardship

  • Lead year-round donor stewardship efforts, ensuring timely and appropriate acknowledgment of donors, sponsors, and volunteers.

  • Collaborate with the Programs Department on volunteer initiatives and stewardship with major donors.

  • Assist CDO with giving campaigns with staff, the Board of Directors, and volunteers.

  • Create loyalty among volunteers by educating and updating them on the Foundation's program goals and activities.

7. Donor Database Management

  • Manage donor database, optimizing functionality to enhance donor retention, stewardship, and cultivation.

  • Ensure all event and campaign data are accurately maintained within the database.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Administration for interdepartmental support and analysis of donor data.

8. Evaluation and Reporting

  •  Provide data reports for the CDO and CEO as requested.

Qualifications

  • High energy and passion for the Andy Roddick Foundation's mission to work with our community to expand opportunities for young people to learn, thrive, and succeed is essential.

  • Highly effective oral and written communication and marketing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability and capacity to raise funds from diverse sources and generate target revenue within a set timeframe.

  • Knowledge of the moves management process. Ability to identify and implement trends and best practices in donor engagement, stewardship, and management.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability and savvy to relate and communicate with high-net-worth individuals, philanthropic institution staff, corporate executives, elected and appointed officials, community leaders, volunteers, and other prospective champions and donors to the Foundation.

  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas are required: the nature and dimensions of (individual, corporate, and institutional) philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving, stewardship and cultivation processes, proposal writing, and all functions of a development office, from prospecting to stewardship, cultivation, and acknowledgment.

  • Grant writing experience is strongly preferred; grant writing is a priority responsibility of this role.

  • Ability to work independently without close oversight and as a team player who will productively engage with others within and outside the foundation. Ability to have regular community visits with current and prospective supporters.

  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, computer systems, and fundraising software.

  •  Experience working with CRM and project management systems required; experience with Monday.com preferred.

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 2-3 years of fundraising/sales or marketing experience.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for donor events and stewardship activities.

Compensation and Benefits

The Andy Roddick Foundation offers an excellent work environment, competitive salaries, full-coverage health insurance, a 401 (k) match up to 3%, generous time off, a hybrid work environment, a flexible schedule, and sabbatical leave. The starting salary range for this position is $62,000 - $68,000 (depending on experience). The position has an ideal start date of September 2026.

Description: The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services to the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps Members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties: Refine existing Andy Roddick Foundation donor retention systems and develop new ones. Research donor retention systems at similar nonprofit organizations. Develop and refine donor stewardship policies and metrics in order to improve the Foundation’s donor retention rate. Develop, refine, and implement policies to improve donor retention by using the Foundation’s donor database, Raiser’s Edge. Create a new system of organization to make donor data more readily available. Develop donor tiers and create a system that assigns Foundation staff action items in Raiser’s Edge. Increase fundraising prospects for the Andy Roddick Foundation. Research corporate giving programs and individual philanthropy. Research fundraising events at similar nonprofit organizations. Research grants available to Andy Roddick Foundation. Create a database of potential partnerships and opportunities, including potential opportunities for existing partners to increase their financial contributions.

Requirements: This is a 12-month term in an AmeriCorps VISTA role. Applicants must be a college graduate and at least 18 years of age.
