Expanding Access to Childcare & Learning

In 2024, Austin voters passed Prop A for affordable childcare, securing $75 million in funding for Travis County to expand access to quality childcare, afterschool, and summer learning programs. This initiative will create 10,000 more childcare spaces annually in Austin, supporting working families and creating a continuum of support for children from birth to high school graduation.

Affordable Childcare Now! Rally 2024

The Travis County Health and Human Services team is working diligently on implementation planning, including gathering feedback from the community around priorities and needs. As part of this transition, the County is working to expand internal resources and infrastructure necessary to administer this new Voter Approved Child Care and Out of School Time fund.

We will continue to share information and opportunities to engage with this work and are grateful to Travis County voters for approving this life-changing investment in children and families. We especially want to thank the LATT Network, whose collective voice helped make this critical investment in our community a reality.
