Position Title:  Program Coordinator

Location: Austin, Tx

Employment Type: Part-time

Salary Range: $20 - $25 per hour depending on experience and qualifications, for a total of 20 hours

per week (hybrid in-person and remote work)

Position Overview

The part-time Program Coordinator is an integral member of the Explore Austin program team

supporting Explore Austin’s mission, motivated to produce accurate and detailed work, and adept at

multitasking and problem-solving. This role provides essential program support to ensure successful

operations of the organization as a whole, as well as imperative parent and family outreach integral to

successful program delivery.

 Key Responsibilities

Program Communication

Assist with Spanish-speaking communications for organization to ensure community needs are

being met

● Along with the Program Manager of Explorers, serve as a contact for engagement activities for

families, such as campouts and other community events.

● Support recruitment and retention efforts of Explorers by providing support to new Explorer

families and providing outreach regarding program participation

● Assist with organizing and supporting the Parent Council in parent-led activities and

opportunities

Program Outreach

Support the Associate Program Director and Program Manager in the development and

implementation of a school partnership program to provide outdoor enrichment opportunities

to fifth and 6th graders

● Identify and build relationships with community and partner schools to assist with recruitment

efforts

Program Administration

Assist the Program Team with administrative duties regarding Saturday Challenge and Summer

Wilderness Trip season logistics

● Assist with recruiting and onboarding paperwork for part-time staff (Trip Leaders) and volunteer

(Mentors) onboarding

● Assist with recruiting and onboarding paperwork for volunteers (mentors)

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

Preferred: Spanish fluent or conversational

● Essential: Strong technical skills in Google and Microsoft Office products.

● High degree of emotional intelligence and leadership. Demonstrated ability to show tenacity,

flexibility, and collaboration

● Ability to use discretion and maintain integrity and professionalism

● Commitment to excellence and high standards

● Excellent written and oral communication skills

● Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

● Ability to manage priorities and workflow

● Acute attention to detail

● Ability to work weekends or after hours for programming or special events, as needed

● Ability to drive company vehicles with youth and adult passengers
